V40 Air Suspension Problem

Alright Volvo gurus, need some help! My 2002 Volvo V40 with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The air suspension seems totally shot. The car won't lift, it's leaning like a Pisa tower, and the dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree with error messages. The low beams are aiming at the squirrels and the warning light is mocking me. I scanned the codes, and it points to the air suspension compressor. I've checked the fuses (all good), but I'm thinking it might be a bad connection somewhere. Has anyone wrestled with this demon before?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Volvo V40 is experiencing air suspension issues, with the car not lifting and dashboard error messages appearing. The problem is suspected to be related to the air suspension compressor, possibly due to a bad connection. After checking the fuses and receiving advice, the issue was traced to a corroded main power connector to the suspension pump. Cleaning the connector resolved the problem, restoring the car's functionality.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my V40 a while back. Same symptoms, the whole nine yards. Did you check the relay as well? For me, the connection to the suspension pump was corroded. Is yours?

Good shout, thanks! I'll check the relay. When you say connection to the pump, do you mean the main power connector or one of the smaller sensor plugs? And how did you eventually fix it?

Yeah, the main power connector, it's exposed to the elements. I didn't fix it myself, to be honest. After checking everything I could, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed the bad connection and sorted it out. Cost me 95€, which wasn't too bad considering the headache it saved me. Might be worth a check by a professional.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I checked the connector, and you were spot on, it was corroded solid. Cleaned it up, and everything is working again. I owe you one!
