V40 Air Valve Hose Defect
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Volvo V40 owner experienced a check engine light, occasional stalling, and rough idling, suspecting a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve. Another V40 owner suggested checking for vacuum leaks around the air valve, a common issue. The problem was confirmed to be a defective hose connection, and the repair was successfully completed at a workshop.

I haven't specifically checked for vacuum leaks, but the engine does occasionally stall, and the idling is definitely rough at times. Where should I be looking for these leaks around the air valve? Any specific hoses or connections?

With those symptoms, it sounds like the same issue I experienced. Pinpointing the exact leak can be tricky without specialized tools. Given the stalling, rough idling, and check engine light, I'd advise taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose it properly. Good luck!

I took it to a local workshop, and it turned out to be a defective hose connection to the air valve, just as you suspected. The total repair cost was 175€. I appreciate your help!

I also own a V40 and had a similar problem. Does the engine ever stall, or do you notice any rough idling? It could be an air intake issue. Have you checked for any obvious vacuum leaks around the air valve? It's a common culprit.
