V40 Airbag Warning Light
Summary of the thread
The airbag warning light on a 2019 Volvo V40 diesel illuminated after 43,098 km. Initial checks of basic fuses did not resolve the issue. A similar problem in another vehicle was caused by a defective cable or plug connection to an airbag component, often disrupted by seat movement. The recommended solution was to have a workshop diagnose the issue, which revealed a defective plug connection, subsequently repaired for 95€.

I jiggled the seat connectors, hoping for a miracle, but it didn't fix it. Is there a specific connector I should focus on, or a way to test these connections without special equipment? Should I be concerned about car safety?

On the Astra, it was a faulty connector under the driver's seat, specifically for the side airbag. Without diagnostic equipment, it's difficult to pinpoint. Given the potential impact on automotive safety, I recommend having a workshop check it. They can read error codes and identify the defective component more accurately.

Following your advice, I took my V40 to a workshop. It was indeed a defective plug connection, just as suspected, after a bumpy drive. They sorted it, and all is working again. The repair cost 95€.

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The SRS light was on constantly, likely from a defective cable or plug connection to an airbag component. Have you checked the wiring harnesses and connectors under the seats? Moving the seats can disrupt them.
