V40 Camshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Volvo V40 diesel exhibited poor starts and reduced power, with an error code indicating a camshaft sensor issue. The wiring and plug appeared intact, but the sensor itself was suspected to be faulty. A similar case confirmed that a faulty camshaft sensor can cause such problems, and it was recommended to have it checked by a workshop. The issue was resolved by addressing the camshaft sensor and its connection.

Thanks for the reply! No other codes showed up, just the camshaft sensor one. Was it definitely the sensor itself in your case, or something else?

Yes, in my case, the camshaft sensor was faulty. Considering the symptoms and error code, it's highly probable that you're dealing with the same gremlin. I advise you to get it checked by a workshop.

Cheers, will do! Took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the camshaft sensor and its connection. All sorted now for 95€. Thanks again!

I had similar symptoms on my V40. Rough idling, stalling engine, and the check engine light was on. The camshaft position sensor can cause havoc with timing issues, as the ECU relies on it. Did you check for any other stored error codes?
