V40 central locking radio issues

I'm pulling my hair out here. I've got a 2003 Volvo V40, diesel engine, and lately, things have been going haywire. It started with an error related to the car radio system. Now, the central locking's playing up – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And I can't even start the thing without the key physically in the ignition! I'm thinking it's got something to do with the bumper antenna, maybe a dodgy cable or connection somewhere. Has anyone else run into this?

Sounds familiar. I've got a V40 too and had similar weirdness with the central locking and the radio. Check the antenna mount. Is it corroded or loose? That was the culprit for me. The whole system is interconnected, so a bad antenna signal can mess things up.

Yeah, I was suspecting the antenna itself. Where exactly did you find the corrosion? Was it obvious, or did you have to really dig around to find it? I'm trying to avoid ripping the whole bumper apart if I can help it.

It was pretty obvious once I got in there, near the plug connection. But honestly, I'd just bite the bullet and get it checked by a workshop. I ended up paying 95€ for them to sort it. It was worth it for me to not mess it up completely.

Okay, that's the kick in the pants I needed. I was hoping to avoid the shop, but I think you're right. Time to swallow my pride and hand it over. Thanks for the help!
