V40 diesel glow control unit issue

Hi, I have a 2012 Volvo V40 diesel with 141181 km. The preheating lamp stays on after starting, the check engine light is on, and there's smoke when I accelerate. A test says it's the glow control unit. I think it might be a bad cable or plug. Has anyone else had this?

I had something similar in my V40 diesel. The preheating light stayed on, and the engine was rough. Did you run a diagnostic test? Could be a glow plug issue, or the control unit. Sometimes those things cause the engine to stall. It could also be the heating element connection.

Yes, it was the control unit. The test pointed to the glow plugs, but they found the control unit was faulty. About the smoke, diesel smoke is never a good sign. I'd take it to a workshop.

Thanks for the help! It was the glow control unit, a bad cable. The repair cost 95€.
