V40 Fault Memory Lock Active Undervoltage
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Volvo V40 diesel owner reported a "fault memory lock active" notification, suspecting an undervoltage issue. Despite normal car starting and electronics, the problem was linked to a slight undervoltage, which can trigger ECU faults. It was advised to have the car diagnosed at a workshop to confirm the cause. The issue was confirmed as undervoltage, and the repair was completed.

Thanks for the quick reply. The car starts normally, and the electronics seem fine. Could undervoltage still be the issue, even without those symptoms?

Yes, it's possible. Even if everything seems normal, a slight undervoltage can trigger those kinds of ECU faults and lock the memory. Honestly, with fault memory issues like that, it's best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop to pinpoint the exact cause.

Understood. Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed an undervoltage issue. The repair cost me 240€. Your input was very helpful!

I had something similar with my V40! Is the car struggling to start, or are any of the electronics acting strangely? It could be a dodgy battery or alternator. I'd get the battery checked first.
