V40 key battery warning
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Volvo V40 diesel is displaying a 'key battery low' warning on the dashboard, causing issues with keyless access and remote locking/unlocking. The suspected cause is a low battery in the key fob. While replacing the battery is a suggested first step, another similar case required a workshop visit due to stored errors potentially caused by low voltage. If the battery replacement doesn't resolve the issue, professional assistance may be necessary.

Yes, the car starts fine. It's just the remote locking/unlocking and keyless entry that are playing up. Did replacing the battery fix it for you?

In my case, replacing the battery did not solve the problem. An error was also stored, as you describe. I had to visit the workshop. They told me that a low voltage can cause errors. The repair ended up costing 37€.

Thanks for the info! I'll try a new battery first, and if that doesn't work, I'll take it to a workshop. At least I have some idea of what to expect. Cheers!

I have a Volvo V40 too. I had the same 'key battery low' warning. Does the car start at all?
