V40 keyless access fault
Summary of the thread
The keyless access system of a 2001 Volvo V40 stopped working, with an error stored, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness connected to the door switch, which can become loose or corroded. The problem was fixed by replacing the defective cable at a workshop, restoring the keyless access functionality.

Thank you for your response. Could you provide more detail regarding which wiring and switch you inspected? I would like to get a better understanding before proceeding further.

Yeah, sure! It was the wiring harness that goes into the door. Specifically, where it connects to the door switch – that's the thing that tells the car the door is open or closed. It's a real pain to get to, honestly. If you aren't super comfortable with electrical stuff, it might be worth just taking it to a workshop. That's what I ended up doing.

I appreciate the information you have provided. Based on your recommendation, I visited a local workshop. The defective cable was replaced for 95€. Now it works again! Thank you!

Hey! I had something similar happen with my V40, though mine's a bit newer. Basically, the keyless entry stopped working out of nowhere. It was super annoying! Did you check the wiring around the door switch? Sometimes those get loose or corroded, which can mess with the signal. Also, that error memory thing sounds like a sensor issue maybe?
