V40 rough running stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo V40 was experiencing rough running, stalling when idling, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The issue was suspected to be a defective ignition coil. After checking, it was confirmed that the problem was a defective cable or plug connection on the ignition coil, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

You think it's just a bad connection? Where should I look on the ignition coil? What signs should I look for?

On my Megane, it was a loose connection on one of the ignition coils. The mechanic spotted it quickly. If unsure, take it to a workshop for a vehicle diagnostic. They'll pinpoint it fast.

It was the ignition coil – cable or plug connection was defective, like you suspected. Got it sorted for 95€. Runs like a charm now!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Renault Megane: rough running, stalling, check engine light. Have you checked the cable or plug connection? That was my problem!
