V40 rough running stalling

My 2004 Volvo V40 gasoline with 168594 km is running super rough and stalls when idling. The check engine light is on, and it jerks when accelerating. I've checked obvious things, but could it be a defective ignition coil?

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Renault Megane: rough running, stalling, check engine light. Have you checked the cable or plug connection? That was my problem!

You think it's just a bad connection? Where should I look on the ignition coil? What signs should I look for?

On my Megane, it was a loose connection on one of the ignition coils. The mechanic spotted it quickly. If unsure, take it to a workshop for a vehicle diagnostic. They'll pinpoint it fast.

It was the ignition coil – cable or plug connection was defective, like you suspected. Got it sorted for 95€. Runs like a charm now!
