V40 Start Stop Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Volvo V40 diesel with 220,000 km is experiencing a start-stop fault where the engine shuts off, but a warning light appears. The issue may be due to the battery not holding enough charge. It is suggested to have the battery professionally load tested, as a similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the battery. The owner has booked a garage appointment, suspecting a heavily discharged battery as the cause.

Load tested? I don't have the equipment. Can I check it myself, or should I take it to a garage?

Best to take it to a garage. My Peugeot needed a new battery, which completely fixed the start-stop problem. Get it checked professionally.

Thanks for the advice! I booked it in; they think it's a heavily discharged battery. They quoted 290€ for a new one fitted. Hopefully, that fixes it.

Sounds familiar. My old Peugeot 308 had the same issue. Start-stop just refused to work. Have you had the battery load tested?
