V50 Automatic Transmission Slipping

My 2004 Volvo V50 diesel (174539 km) has a check engine light, transmission indicator, slippage, unclean shifts and grinding during gear changes. Error code stored. Sounds like a defective torque converter lock-up clutch. Anyone seen this?

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar in my V50 a while back. The shifting felt like trying to ice skate uphill – just no grip! The grinding noise is what really got me worried, like a blender full of rocks. Was it worse when the engine was cold, or did it happen all the time?

The symptoms appear consistently, regardless of engine temperature. The grinding noise seems to vary depending on the load. What error codes and diagnostic procedures did you use?

Mine was pretty much the same deal, always happening. I didn't check the error codes myself, I'm not that techy. Just took it straight to a trusted workshop when the noises and slipping got too much to handle. Honestly, with those symptoms, especially the grinding, it really does sound like your converter's on its way out. Best get it checked by a pro.

Based on that, I'll proceed with a professional diagnosis and repair. The estimated cost for replacement of the automatic transmission converter is 2120€.
