V50 Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo V50 experienced a sudden cruise control failure, accompanied by an error message. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues. Suggestions included checking the brake light switch, as a fault there could disable the system. Ultimately, a diagnostic scan revealed a loose connection in the steering wheel wiring, which was repaired for 95€.

Brake light switch? I hadn't considered that. Where is it usually located, and is it easy to check?

On my Astra, it was located near the brake pedal. However, given the error message you are getting I would recommend a diagnostic scan by a workshop. It could be a defective cable or plug connection of the cruise control component itself.

Thanks for the tip! It turned out to be a loose connection in the steering wheel wiring, as the diagnostic indicated. The repair cost was 95€, so not too bad.

I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra a few years back. The cruise control just quit. Did you check the brake light switch? Sometimes a faulty switch can disable the cruise control system.
