V50 Diesel Fuel Pressure Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo V50 diesel exhibited issues such as the check engine light being on, rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration. The suspected cause was a faulty fuel pressure sensor, potentially due to a bad cable or plug. After consulting a technician, it was confirmed that the problem was indeed a bad fuel pressure sensor caused by a poor electrical connection, which was repaired, resolving the issues.

Could you give me more details about what happened with yours? Did it jerk during acceleration like mine? And did you figure out what caused it and how to fix it?

Yep, the jerking acceleration was definitely part of it! Honestly, I'm not the most mechanically inclined user, so I didn't mess around too much trying to diagnose it myself. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it out. I can't remember exactly what they did, but I think it was something to do with a sensor. Seriously, just get it looked at by a professional. It'll save you a massive headache.

Thanks for the help. I took it to a technician, and it turned out the fuel pressure sensor was bad, just like I thought, because of a bad electrical connection. The repair was 95€, including parts and labor. It runs perfectly now. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Whoa, those symptoms sound awfully familiar! I had something very similar happen with my V50, though I can't remember the exact year. Check engine light, rough idling... the whole shebang. Honestly, I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. It drove me absolutely nuts!
