V50 Electrical System Error Sluggish Start
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Volvo V50 diesel is experiencing an electrical system error and sluggish engine start. The main battery appears fine, but there is suspicion that the auxiliary battery may not be charging properly. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by replacing the auxiliary battery, suggesting this could be the likely cause. Taking the car to a workshop for diagnosis and potential replacement of the auxiliary battery is recommended.

Thanks for the quick response! I believe it's located near the main battery, under the hood. Did your Megane exhibit similar symptoms – weak engine start and electrical errors?

Yep, exactly the same symptoms. Error messages all over the place, and it struggled to start, especially in cold weather. In the end, I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the aux battery and replaced it. Saved me a lot of headache trying to diagnose it myself.

Thanks a lot for confirming! Sounds like I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. I was hoping to avoid it, but it seems like the aux battery is the likely culprit. Just got it back, cost me 290€.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had almost the same problem with my Renault Megane a few years back. It turned out to be a dodgy auxiliary battery. Do you know where it's located in your V50?
