V50 Engine Running Lean
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Volvo V50 diesel is experiencing symptoms of running lean, including reduced engine power, a check engine light, and rough running, particularly during acceleration. Initial checks for intake leaks and cleaning the mass air flow sensor did not resolve the issue. A suggestion was made to inspect the fuel injectors, as a defective injector could cause these symptoms. After professional diagnosis, a defective fuel injector was confirmed and repaired, resolving the problem.

Mileage is at 249507 km. I haven't checked the fuel injectors directly. Is there a way to test them without special equipment, or is it best left to a professional?

At that mileage, it's quite possible the injectors are the issue. While there are some DIY tests you can find online, they're not always reliable and can be risky. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a reputable workshop. They can properly diagnose the fuel injectors and confirm if that's the problem. Save yourself the headache.

Took your advice and brought it to the shop. It was indeed a defective fuel injector. Cost me 515€ for the repair, but the car runs like new again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my V50 a while back. Same symptoms: loss of power and rough running. Did you check your fuel injectors? A defective injection valve could be the culprit. What's the mileage?
