V50 Error Messages and Module Coding
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo V50 is experiencing persistent fault codes and error messages on the infotainment system and speedometer display. Attempts to clear the codes with a basic OBD2 scanner have been unsuccessful. The issue may be due to incorrect coding of the car's control modules, a problem that requires a proper diagnostic scanner and expertise to resolve. It is recommended to visit a workshop or specialist for recoding to fix the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Coding of the control modules, huh? How did you figure that out? And was it something you could fix yourself, or did you have to take it to a shop?

I struggled with it for a while, scanned all possible modules and so on. Then, looking at a Volvo forum, I found that some modules were incorrectly coded for the car's configuration. Unfortunately, I couldn't fix it myself. It needed a proper diagnostic scanner and someone who knew how to recode everything. I suggest going to the workshop.

Alright, that's what I was afraid of. Sounds like it's beyond my capabilities then. I'll book it in with my local independent Volvo specialist. Thanks for confirming my suspicions! The repair cost me 360€ to get it recoded, but at least it fixed the problem.

I had a similar issue with my V50 a while back. Same symptoms – error messages all over the place. Did you happen to check the coding of the car's control modules? That was my issue, and it seems to be a somewhat common problem.
