V50 fuel tank ventilation issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Volvo V50 diesel is experiencing a fuel tank ventilation issue, indicated by a check engine light and occasional engine stalling at idle. A similar problem was resolved by addressing a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system, specifically the activated charcoal filter. It is recommended to have a professional perform a leak detection test and check the emission control system to confirm and fix the issue.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the charcoal filter located, and how did you diagnose it?

I'm not sure about the exact location. My check engine was also on, and after a leak detection test, the workshop confirmed it was the charcoal filter. I suggest you go to a shop, so you can get your emission control system checked.

Thanks, I'll take it to the shop. It was indeed the activated charcoal filter. Cost me 275€ to repair. Appreciate the help!

I had similar issues with my V50. It turned out to be a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. Check your activated charcoal filter; that was the culprit in my case.
