V50 Glow Plug Malfunction

I've got a 2012 Volvo V50 diesel with 153510 km. The preheating lamp won't extinguish, and diagnostics show a glow plug malfunction. Does a defective glow plug sound like the most likely cause?

Sounds like a glow plug issue. Have you tried figuring out which one is causing the error code? That would really speed up the repair.

A multimeter works for basic testing. Measure the resistance across each glow plug; high or infinite resistance means it's defective. Given the car's age and mileage, a pro inspection is smart. Repair should be around 440€.
