V50 Handsfree Microphone Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo V50 diesel is experiencing a hands-free microphone failure, making telephony impossible and showing a fault in the error memory. The mechanic suspects a defective infotainment system as the cause. Despite checking volume and mute settings, the issue persists. A similar case suggests that professional repair may be necessary, as attempts to fix it independently were unsuccessful.

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the volume and mute settings, but no luck. Were you able to fix the problem? Is there any way to avoid going to the workshop?

I wasn't able to fix it myself. It sounds like the infotainment system. My local shop confirmed it and I had it repaired for a similar price. Save yourself the headache and get it checked professionally before something else stops working.

I had a similar problem with my Volvo V50. I couldn't use voice commands or make calls. The radio still worked, but anything involving the microphone was dead. It's annoying when you're used to using those features. Did you check the volume control for the microphone or any mute buttons?
