V50 Seat Heater Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Volvo V50 has a seat heater that isn't functioning, and an error code indicates a defect. The issue could stem from a faulty heating element or a malfunctioning temperature sensor. The most likely cause, given the car's age and symptoms, is a defective heating mat inside the seat. It is recommended to have a professional diagnose the problem to avoid unnecessary replacements.

The error is vague, just 'seat heating defective'. How would I check the sensor?

If the error is that vague, it's tough to pinpoint without more diagnostics. Given the age and symptoms, a defective heating mat inside the seat is the most likely culprit. But tracing electrical issues can be a pain without the right tools. I would consider getting a workshop to diagnose the source of the error. It can save you from replacing components that work fine.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop and you were right, the heating mat was indeed defective. Cost me 390€ to replace. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a common issue. Does the error specifically mention the heating element or the temperature sensor? Sometimes a faulty sensor can prevent the element from turning on, like a thermostat stuck in the off position.
