V50 Seat Massage Not Working

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Volvo V50 diesel. The massage function in the driver's seat has stopped working completely. No response at all when I press the switch. I've scanned the car, and there's an error stored related to the seat massage module. Seems like a defective cable or plug connection for the massage seat component is to blame. Has anyone else run into this? I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm in for before I start tearing into the seat upholstery.

Summary of the thread

The massage function in a 2008 Volvo V50 driver's seat has stopped working, with no response when the switch is pressed. An error related to the seat massage module suggests a defective cable or plug connection might be the cause. Despite checking the fuses and confirming the lumbar support is still operational, the issue seems isolated to the massage unit itself. The recommended solution is to have the problem professionally diagnosed and repaired.

Interesting issue. I've got a V50 as well, and I seem to recall encountering something similar a while back. If memory serves, it started intermittently and then died completely. Did you check the fuse box? It might be as simple as a blown fuse. Also, is the lumbar support working? They might share the same circuit.

Thanks for the reply! I did check the fuses (should have mentioned that). All seem to be fine. The lumbar support is still working, which is even more confusing. Makes me think it's not a power issue to the whole seat, but something specific to the massage unit itself. Any other thoughts based on your experience? Was it a difficult fix?

Ah, if the lumbar is still functional, then you're right, it does sound like it's isolated to the massage unit. Honestly, in my case, I wasn't able to diagnose it myself. I ended up taking it to a trusted workshop. They sorted it out fairly quickly. I would suggest doing the same.

Okay, appreciate the insight. Sounds like I'm at the point where I need to bite the bullet and get it professionally diagnosed. Just got the estimate of 95€ and gave them green light to proceed. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
