V50 Stalling Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Volvo V50 diesel is experiencing stalling at idle and reduced engine power, with the check engine light on. The issue arose after a fuel filter change, leading to speculation about a defective fuel pressure regulator or a possible error entry. Suggestions include checking the fuel rail pressure sensor and verifying fault codes at a workshop to identify the exact cause.

Where exactly is the fuel rail pressure sensor located? Is it difficult to replace, or should I check something else first?

It's on the fuel rail. I'm not entirely sure about replacement difficulty. If it happened right after the fuel filter change, maybe the error entry is the real issue? I'd advise getting it checked at a workshop. It could be the fuel pressure regulator, but you should verify the fault codes. In the end the repair cost me 45€.

Thanks! I'll take it to a workshop to get the fault codes read. I hope it's just the fuel pressure regulator. Fingers crossed!

I had similar symptoms with my V50: reduced engine power and stalling. Did you check the fuel rail pressure sensor? Maybe there is a pressure drop.
