V50 Water Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo V50 diesel was experiencing issues with a failing water sensor, causing the check engine light to remain on, an error code to appear, and the engine to run rough. The problem was identified as a bad cable connection to the water sensor. The solution involved replacing the corroded connector, which resolved the issue and restored the vehicle's performance.

Thanks! Which sensor was the problem on your V50, and how did you find the bad connection?

It was the water sensor on my car too, triggering the malfunction light. I didn't figure it out myself; the workshop found the defective connection and fixed it.

You were right! It was the cable connection to the water sensor. The workshop confirmed it, replaced the corroded connector, and it's running perfectly now. Total cost: 95€. Thanks!

I have a V50, but with a petrol engine, and had a similar sensor issue recently. Check the cable and plug connections to the sensor first. A bad connection can cause those symptoms. Has a garage looked at it?
