V50 Windshield Washer Heater Problem

I have a 2009 Volvo V50 with a gasoline engine and 223170 km. I'm having trouble with the windshield washer heater system. There's an error stored, and the spray nozzles freeze in cold weather. I think it might be a bad cable or plug. Has anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Volvo V50 is experiencing issues with its windshield washer heater system, leading to frozen spray nozzles in cold weather. The problem is suspected to be an electrical fault, possibly due to a bad cable or plug. The fuse is intact, and the washer motor is operational, suggesting the issue might lie with the heater element or its wiring. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the problem, as they can test the heater element and wiring safely.

Freezing nozzles and an error code suggest an electrical fault in the heating circuit. Did you check the fuse? The diagram should be in your manual. See if the windshield washer fuse is blown. Also, is the washer motor working? If not, it could be a general electrical issue.

I checked the fuse, and it's fine. The washer motor works; I can hear it. The nozzles just don't spray because they're frozen. What should I do next? Can I test the heater element, or is it more likely a wiring issue between the fuse box and the nozzles?

Since the fuse is good and the washer motor runs, it's likely the heater element or its wiring. Given your limited technical experience, I'd suggest a trusted workshop. Repairing the cable or plug should be around 95€. A mechanic can use a multimeter to check for voltage at the heater connector when the system is on and test the heater element for continuity. Be careful, messing with car electrics can be risky if you're not experienced.

Thanks for the help. I'll take it to a workshop for diagnosis and repair, mentioning the cable or plug issue. Hopefully, the repair will be around 95€.
