V60 ABS Lateral Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo V60 owner experienced an ABS system failure, with a diagnostic scan indicating an error related to the lateral acceleration sensor. A similar case was shared, where the issue was traced back to a defective control unit, causing intermittent ABS light activation and unusual electronic stability control behavior. The suggested solution is to have the control unit checked and potentially replaced by a professional, which resolved the issue for both parties, albeit at a significant cost.

Weirdness? Not that I can recall specifically. Mostly just the ABS light and the system failure. What kind of weirdness are you talking about? What was it like in your case?

Yeah, for me, the ABS light came on intermittently, and it felt like the electronic stability was kicking in at odd times, even on straight roads. Sounds like the same issue. The control unit was indeed defective. I'd suggest taking it to a decent shop to confirm. It wasn't cheap, about 1000€, but worth getting it sorted.

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to the shop and have them check the control unit thoroughly. It looks like you were spot on. Diagnostic scan confirmed the same issue. Cost me around the same amount. All good now.

Hey! Funny you should mention that. I have a V60 too, and I experienced something similar not too long ago. The error code pointed to the lateral sensor, right? Did you happen to notice any weirdness with the electronic stability control beforehand?
