V60 anti theft alarm malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Volvo V60 owner experienced a malfunction with the anti-theft alarm system, which was non-functional and stored an error in the memory. After checking the fuses and battery, the issue was traced to the car being coded to activate optical locking, causing confusion in the system. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop to have the coding checked and adjusted, resolving the problem effectively.

Optical locking, you say? Hmmm...I do recall enabling that feature in the settings a few months ago. Is that something that can actually cause the alarm system to go haywire? How would I even go about troubleshooting that further? Is it something I can do myself?

Yes, it can indeed cause issues. It seems some modules get confused, for lack of a better word. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to have the coding checked and potentially adjusted. They can diagnose it properly and ensure everything is communicating as it should. It could save you a lot of headache.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the alarm system was indeed coded to activate optical locking, which was causing the malfunction. They recoded it, and everything is working perfectly now. Cost me 45€ Appreciate the help!

Interesting. I've got a V60 as well. Sounds vaguely familiar to an issue I had a while back. Is the car perhaps coded to activate optical locking – meaning the indicators flash when locking/unlocking? That was the root of my alarm problems.
