V60 charge air temperature sensor issue

I'm getting super frustrated with my 2014 Volvo V60 diesel. The check engine light is on, and it feels like I'm driving with half the engine power! Plus, there's this weird whistling noise, and when I accelerate, it's like a dragon hissing under the hood. I scanned it, and it's showing a charge air temperature sensor error. I'm guessing it's something to do with the turbo, but I have no clue where to even start looking. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Volvo V60 diesel was experiencing reduced engine power, a check engine light, and a whistling noise, with a diagnostic scan indicating a charge air temperature sensor error. The issue was suspected to be related to the turbo system. A suggestion was made to check the sensor's cable and plug connection, which was found to be loose and slightly corroded. After cleaning and reconnecting the plug at a workshop, the problem was resolved, restoring the vehicle's performance.

I had a similar issue with my V60. That charge air temperature sensor can cause some headaches. The error codes are usually pretty accurate. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the sensor itself? That's often the culprit.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is that sensor located, and how do I check the cable and plug? I'm not super familiar with car engines, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The sensor is typically located near the intercooler, which cools the air after it's been compressed by the turbocharger, before it enters the engine. Given the symptoms and error code, and since you're not familiar with the engine, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. It'll save you time and potential frustration.

You were spot on! I took it to the workshop, and they found a loose and slightly corroded plug on the charge air temperature sensor. They cleaned it, reconnected everything, and now it's running perfectly. Cost me 95€, which is a lot less than I feared. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
