Thanks for the reply! You mentioned a heavily contaminated air intake. Could you elaborate on that a bit? What exactly did you find, and was it difficult to access and clean?

Sure thing. Basically, the intake manifold was gunked up with carbon deposits and oil residue, restricting airflow. This made the idle air control valve work overtime, and eventually it couldn't compensate anymore. I tried cleaning it myself, but honestly, it was a pain to reach and I ended up making things worse. I'd recommend having a workshop take a look at it. Cost me around 400€ to get sorted.

Appreciate the insight. Sounds like it's beyond my capabilities, I'll take it to a shop. Hopefully, it won't cost too much to fix.

That sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old BMW 3 series. The check engine light, the error codes, and the stalling – classic symptoms. Have you checked the air intake system? In my case, it was heavily contaminated, causing the idle air control valve to malfunction.
