V60 Engine Won't Start
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Volvo V60 hybrid experienced an issue where the engine wouldn't start, occasionally starting briefly before shutting off, and displayed an error. The problem was suspected to be related to the anti-theft system. It was identified as a key programming issue, where the car wasn't recognizing the key properly. The solution involved recoding the key at a shop, which resolved the issue.

Yeah, it cranks. So, what was the issue with your BMW then? Was it a complicated fix? I'm not really a car guy, just trying to get an idea what I'm facing.

With the BMW, it turned out to be an issue with the key programming – the car wasn't recognizing the key properly. It's possible your Volvo has a similar problem, especially with those symptoms. The error memory likely points to the immobilizer. You'll need to visit a shop for them to check if the key is faulty or needs to be recoded to the car’s system.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was a key programming issue. They recoded the key, and it works perfectly now. Cost me 45€.

Sounds like an immobilizer problem. I had something similar happen with my older BMW 3 series. Same symptoms: engine refusing to start, occasional brief start before cutting out, and an error code stored. Does it crank at all?
