V60 Handsfree Microphone Failure
Summary of the thread
The hands-free microphone in a 2012 Volvo V60 stopped working, with telephony and speech recognition also failing. The issue was linked to a persistent fault in the error memory, suggesting a potential problem with the infotainment system. After a workshop diagnosis, it was confirmed that the infotainment system was faulty, and replacing it resolved the microphone issue.

There were occasional glitches – momentary audio loss, slight volume increases. Nothing major at the time. Did your Audi need a new infotainment system?

Yep, full replacement. They said it was a failure in the unit itself. Given the age of your V60 and the symptoms, I’d get it checked by a workshop.

Workshop diagnosed a faulty infotainment system. Repair cost: 815€. Replaced it, and the hands-free system works now.

I had something similar in my 2016 Audi A4. The symptoms sound the same. Did you notice any other weirdness with the audio before the microphone died? Like cut-outs or distortion?
