V60 Hybrid Battery Issue

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2021 Volvo V60 hybrid. Lately, the battery seems heavily discharged, leading to error messages. The lights are weak and flickering, and the engine struggles to start at times. I scanned for error codes, and there's an error stored related to the battery. Has anyone else encountered such problems? I suspect it might be a defective battery sensor.

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Volvo V60 hybrid owner is experiencing issues with a heavily discharged battery, leading to error messages, weak lights, and engine starting difficulties. The problem might be due to a defective battery sensor, as suggested by another individual who faced similar issues. Short trips could also contribute to battery drain, but the primary recommendation is to visit a workshop for diagnosis. The workshop confirmed the battery sensor was defective, replaced it, and resolved the issue.

Hey there! I had a similar experience with my V60, although it wasn't a hybrid. I was getting some weird electrical issues, like the infotainment system randomly shutting off and the start/stop function acting up. Eventually, the battery just wouldn't hold a charge. It sounds a lot like what you're describing. Have you checked the voltage of the battery? What kind of driving do you usually do – lots of short trips?

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I have not yet checked the voltage of the battery, but I will do so promptly. Regarding my driving habits, it's a mix of short commutes during the week and longer highway drives on the weekends. Do you suspect that the short trips could be a contributing factor to the battery drain?

Absolutely, short trips can definitely contribute to battery drain, especially in modern cars with lots of electronics. The battery doesn't get a chance to fully recharge during those short bursts. However, given the error messages and the severity of the symptoms, I'd lean towards the battery sensor being faulty as you suspected. I ended up taking mine to a trusted workshop, and they quickly diagnosed the issue. Saved me a lot of headache. I'd recommend you do the same before it gets worse.

I see, that makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. It seems like a trip to the workshop is indeed the most prudent course of action. I appreciate your advice! I visited my local workshop and they confirmed that the battery sensor was defective and replaced it. The total repair cost was 315€. Everything is running smoothly again.
