Thanks for the tip. What should I look for when checking the wiring and plug? Any signs of a bad cable or plug, or common failure spots to check first?

On my Insignia, the plug was corroded. Check for green or white residue on the connector pins. Also, inspect the wires going into the plug for breaks or damage. I didn't have the tools to diagnose it myself, so I took it to a shop. They confirmed it was the connector and replaced it.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a certified shop, and you were right, a bad cable connection was the problem. The repair was 95€, including parts and labor. The sensor and everything else are working now.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Insignia. All systems using the outside car temperature sensor went haywire. The system uses car temperature sensor values to control other functions of the car. Did you check the sensor's wiring and plug? It could be a simple connection problem.
