V60 Preheating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo V60 diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp staying on, the check engine light activating, and excessive smoke during acceleration. The problem is suspected to be related to a defective preheating control unit or a bad connection. Upon inspection, it was found that a defective cable to the preheating unit was the cause, and the issue was resolved by repairing the connection.

Interesting! You mean physically check the wires and the plug itself? Was it visibly damaged or corroded when you found it?

I gave them a look-see. I'm not super-technical, but I could see some corrosion on the plug. Ultimately, I decided to get a workshop to handle it. They confirmed it was a defective connection. Probably best to get it checked professionally.

I appreciate the insight. I'll get the connections checked out, but I think a visit to the shop is on the cards. It turns out it was exactly that. Cable to the preheating unit was defective. 95€ later and it's sorted!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old 2014 Opel Astra. Preheating lamp stayed on and engine light popped up. I'm no expert, but did you check the cable or plug connection of the preheating unit? That's where my problem was.
