V60 Rear AC Issue

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here. I've got a 2020 Volvo V60, diesel engine, and it's been a dream up until now. Clocked 172053 km. The air conditioning is playing up something fierce. Basically, it's like the rear passengers are in a totally different climate zone – a much hotter one! I've got an error message stored, something about the rear ventilation flap. The climate control unit seems to be acting funky too. I'm guessing it's linked to the flap issue, because the AC just isn't cooling properly anymore. Any ideas where I should even start looking? Could it be a fuse or something simple before I start panicking about a major repair?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Volvo V60 owner experienced an issue with the rear air conditioning, where the rear passengers were not receiving adequate cooling. An error message related to the rear ventilation flap was identified, suggesting a potential problem with the flap motor circuit. It was advised to check the wiring and connectors for loose connections or corrosion. Upon professional inspection, a loose wire was found and fixed, resolving the issue and restoring proper AC function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a pain, especially with summer coming. That rear ventilation flap error is a common one on these. Before you go tearing everything apart, have you checked the wiring and connectors going to the flap motor? Could be a loose connection or corroded plug. Sometimes that's all it takes. Also, is the error code specific? Knowing the exact code might point you in a better direction.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't actually dug into the wiring yet, mostly because I'm a bit clueless about where to even find it. Is it easy to get to? And yeah, I've got the error code written down somewhere... I think it's something like B108F13 or similar. Does that code ring any bells? I'm hoping it's just a dodgy connector, but I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Okay, that code does suggest a problem with the rear vent flap motor circuit. And to be honest, access can be a bit fiddly depending on trim level. Unless you're confident with dismantling interior panels, I'd honestly suggest getting a workshop to take a quick look. At least they can properly diagnose the wiring and confirm the issue. It might save you hours of frustration, and potentially breaking something in the process.

You were spot on. Took it to a local shop, and they confirmed it was a dodgy connection to the rear ventilation flap. Apparently, a wire had come loose. They fixed it up in an hour and the AC is now blasting cold air to the back again! Cost me 95€, which I'm happy to pay to avoid roasting my kids in the back. Thanks for the advice!
