V70 Audio System Failure

I had a similar problem with my V70. Have you checked the bass speaker? Often, a defective bass speaker causes the whole audio system to shut down to protect itself. It could be causing a short, even if it doesn't sound obviously blown.

Interesting, I hadn't considered the bass speaker. Where is it located, and is it easy to check? Also, if the bass speaker is the problem, why would it affect the radio and auxiliary input as well? I mean, I would understand sound distortion, but radio silence?

The bass speaker is usually in one of the front doors. As for why it affects everything, the audio system in your V70 is likely designed with a protection circuit.
