V70 Charge Air Temperature Sensor Fault

I'm experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2006 Volvo V70, gasoline engine. The check engine light illuminates intermittently, accompanied by reduced engine power and a distinct whistling, almost hissing sound during acceleration. Error memory points to a charge air temperature sensor fault. Could a defective cable or plug connection truly manifest such disruptive symptoms at only 63008 km?

I understand your concern. Given the error code and symptoms, a faulty charge air temperature sensor connection is plausible. Have you inspected the sensor's wiring and plug for any visible damage or corrosion? Temperature fluctuation might be causing this.

Indeed, I scrutinized the sensor itself, but the issue persists. Is it possible that a minor airflow obstruction downstream could mimic these sensor-related symptoms? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary replacements.

While airflow restrictions can sometimes influence sensor readings, the hissing noise strongly suggests a leak or electrical fault directly related to the charge air system. It's better to get a professional opinion to prevent further damage. I suggest a workshop.

Acknowledged. I appreciate the guidance; a workshop visit it is. The issue turned out to be a corroded connector as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Thank you!
