V70 Charge Air Temperature Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Volvo V70 is experiencing intermittent check engine light activation, reduced engine power, and a whistling sound during acceleration, with an error indicating a charge air temperature sensor fault. The problem could be due to a defective cable or plug connection, possibly caused by corrosion or damage. Inspection of the sensor's wiring and plug is recommended, and professional evaluation is advised to prevent further issues. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a corroded connector, which was repaired.

Indeed, I scrutinized the sensor itself, but the issue persists. Is it possible that a minor airflow obstruction downstream could mimic these sensor-related symptoms? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary replacements.

While airflow restrictions can sometimes influence sensor readings, the hissing noise strongly suggests a leak or electrical fault directly related to the charge air system. It's better to get a professional opinion to prevent further damage. I suggest a workshop.

Acknowledged. I appreciate the guidance; a workshop visit it is. The issue turned out to be a corroded connector as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Thank you!

I understand your concern. Given the error code and symptoms, a faulty charge air temperature sensor connection is plausible. Have you inspected the sensor's wiring and plug for any visible damage or corrosion? Temperature fluctuation might be causing this.
