V70 Diesel Overheating Electric Fan Issue

My 2003 Volvo V70 diesel is overheating at 182299 km. Diagnostics point to a problem in the electric fan circuit, likely a bad cable or plug. Any ideas before I take it to a shop?

I had a similar overheating issue with my V70. I checked the fan clutch, but it wasn't that. Have you looked at the relay and fuses for the temperature control system? A bad relay could stop the electric motor.

Where are the relevant relays and fuses located? Did you have any other symptoms besides overheating?

For me, it was fuse number 16, which I think controls the radiator fan. I didn't notice other issues, just the overheating. If you can't fix it yourself, take it to a workshop. They can figure out if the cable or plug is defective.

It was a defective cable connection. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for the help!
