V70 Fuel Filter Heater Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2008 Volvo V70 diesel. It's got about 121,788 kilometers on it. I think it's the fuel filter heater. I'm getting an error, less power, bad engine response, worse fuel use, and rough idling. I checked the cable and plug, but can't find the problem. Has anyone else had this?

I drive a V70 too. Your symptoms sound familiar. I had rough idle, power loss, and my fuel economy tanked. It felt like the engine was struggling. Have you checked the resistance of the fuel filter heater itself? Sometimes they fail inside, even if the wiring looks okay.

Thanks for the reply! About checking the resistance of the fuel filter heater, could you tell me how to do it? What values should I look for? Is there a test I can do with a multimeter?

I didn't check the resistance myself. Electrical stuff isn't my thing. With those symptoms, and since you checked the connections, I'd take it to a good shop. Fuel problems can be tricky, and it's often cheaper to have a pro diagnose it.

Thanks for the advice. I took it in. It was a bad cable connection to the fuel filter heater, like I thought. The repair was about 95€. Thanks again for the help!
