V70 Intermittent Starting Issue

Alright Volvo gurus, I'm pulling my hair out! My 2012 V70 with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. It's got 216940 km on the clock. Sometimes it just won't start, other times it shuts off mid-drive! When it does run, it's rough. I've checked the dashboard lights, and they seem normal. Any ideas before I lose my mind?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Volvo V70 with 216,940 km is experiencing intermittent starting issues and occasionally shuts off mid-drive. The problem may be related to a defective fuse in the ignition circuit. Checking and replacing the faulty fuse resolved the issue, restoring the car's performance.

Check for a defective fuse, especially those related to the ignition circuit. Does the starter motor engage when it fails to start?

Where would I find the ignition circuit fuse specifically? And how would I tell if the starter motor is engaging or not?

Consult your owner's manual for fuse box diagrams. If you don't hear a distinct 'click' or whirring sound when turning the key to start, the starter motor probably isn't engaging. But, given the engine shutting off while driving, it's probably best to take your car to a workshop.

You nailed it! Turns out it was a defective fuse, just like you said. Replaced it for 52€ and she's running like a charm again. Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction!
