V90 AC failure

Hey, I'm having an issue with my 2021 Volvo V90, gasoline engine, with 174454 km on the clock. The AC has completely stopped working. I'm getting an error stored, the air conditioning no longer cools, doesn't switch on, and there's a warning light. I suspect it might be the refrigerant compressor, possibly due to a defective air conditioning control unit. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Volvo V90 is experiencing a complete AC failure, with error codes and a warning light indicating potential issues. The suspected cause is a faulty refrigerant compressor, possibly due to a defective air conditioning control unit. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop to accurately diagnose and address the problem, as modern AC systems can be complex and require proper handling.

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my V90. The symptoms sound eerily familiar: AC cutting out, error codes popping up... It was quite frustrating, especially during the summer. I'm no expert, but what exactly have you checked so far? Did you notice any unusual noises before it completely failed?

Thanks for the quick reply! I've checked the refrigerant levels, and they seem okay, so I don't think it's a leak. I didn't notice any strange noises beforehand, which is what's throwing me off. The compressor just seemed to give up suddenly. When you say similar issue, was it the compressor in the end?

Yes, it sounds like the compressor. Although the error code could point to a faulty AC control unit, my experience suggests the compressor is the more likely culprit, especially given the sudden failure. While it's possible to diagnose further yourself, given the complexity of modern AC systems and the potential for refrigerant handling issues, I would recommend taking it to a reputable workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and ensure proper refrigerant handling.

Thanks so much for confirming my suspicions and for the advice. I was fearing that the issue was more complex than I could handle. I will take it to a workshop and get it checked out. Hopefully, it's just the compressor and nothing more. I was quoted around 980€ for the repair which I find a bit too expensive. I appreciate your help!
