V90 Audio Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Volvo V90 hybrid experienced a complete audio system failure, with diagnostics revealing a stored error code. The owner checked the infotainment fuses, which were fine, but the audio remained non-functional. A professional diagnosis identified a defective display as the cause, which required replacement to resolve the issue.

The display seems fine, with normal visual output and touch responsiveness. Can you elaborate on how a display issue might cause a complete audio system failure? No recent electrical work has been done.

The display isn't just a screen; it's essentially a computer that controls a lot of the car's functions, including the audio. A glitch in its software or a hardware fault that doesn't necessarily affect the visuals could still mess with the audio output. If the system thinks there's a fault in the display's audio processing, it might shut down the whole sound system as a safety measure. Given that it's throwing an error code, and you've checked the basics, I'd strongly recommend getting it professionally diagnosed. Could be cheaper than chasing ghosts.

I brought the car to my local Volvo workshop. As suspected, the display was defective and needed to be replaced. The repair cost was 725€.

A completely dead audio system on a V90... that's unusual. Have you noticed any other anomalies with the display? Sometimes a failing display can take down the whole audio system. It's all interconnected. Also, any recent electrical work done on the car that might coincide with the problem starting?
