V90 Diesel Rail Pressure Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2019 V90 diesel exhibited issues such as the check engine light, stalling at idle, and reduced engine power, with an OBD reader indicating a 'Rail Pressure Sensor Signal Faulty'. The problem was suspected to be with the pressure sensor in the common rail. After considering other potential causes like the crankshaft sensor, it was confirmed that the rail pressure sensor was indeed faulty. Replacing the sensor resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Crankshaft sensor, huh? Interesting. No other codes, just the rail pressure one. Could a dodgy crankshaft sensor mimic rail pressure issues? Or are we chasing separate gremlins? Is the crankshaft sensor as difficult to get to as the rail pressure sensor?

In my Alfa, the crankshaft sensor fault caused issues with the fuel injection, which lead to stalling. With no other codes showing, you're probably correct in suspecting a fuel pressure sensor issue. It's probably best to take it to a workshop if you do not want to mess with the high pressure fuel system. It can be dangerous!

Thanks for the insight! I took it to a shop. Turns out the rail pressure sensor was indeed the culprit. 240€ later, she's running like new. Appreciated!

Sounds familiar. Had similar issues with my old Alfa Romeo, but it was the crankshaft sensor. It would also stall at idle. Do you see any other codes?
