V90 Electric Steering Column Adjustment Defect

I have a 2018 Volvo V90 with a gasoline engine. The electric steering column adjustment is defective. Symptoms: Error stored in the error memory, and the steering column can no longer be adjusted electrically. Likely cause: Cable or plug connection defective. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I had a similar problem with my V90. By 'electric steering column adjustment,' you mean the feature that lets you adjust the steering wheel's height and reach with buttons, right? When you say 'error stored in error memory', is that something you saw with an OBD2 scanner? What were the exact error codes?

Yes, I am referring to the electronic adjustment of the steering wheel's height and reach. The error codes were read out by a diagnostics tool. I don't recall the exact codes at the moment, but they pointed to a fault in the steering column module or its connections.

Okay, sounds very familiar. In my case, it ended up being a faulty connector. While it might be tempting to try and fix it yourself, messing with the steering system can be risky. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. My final repair cost was 95€. They will be able to properly diagnose and repair the issue, ensuring your safety.

Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a workshop as suggested. That seems like the safest route to take. I will report back here with the resolution.
