V90 Engine Overheating Bypass Valve Error

I'm having an engine overheating issue with my 2020 Volvo V90 hybrid. It has 214282 km on the clock. The error memory keeps throwing a code related to the bypass valve. I'm worried about power loss and think it might be a coolant leak. Could this be linked to the exhaust system? Has anyone seen this before?

Overheating AND a bypass valve error? Sounds nasty. Is it losing power? Have you checked for coolant leaks around the valve itself? Sometimes a small leak can cause enough pressure loss to trigger the code and make the engine run hot.

I haven't noticed any obvious coolant leaks right around the bypass valve. As for the power loss, it's subtle, but I think it's there. Do you think the bypass valve issue could actually cause the overheating, or is it more likely the other way around?

Honestly, the bypass valve issue is likely a symptom, not the cause. With those symptoms and mileage, and considering it's a hybrid, I'd take it to a workshop. Could be a deeper issue than just the valve. Best to get it diagnosed properly before you end up with a bigger bill.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop, and it turns out the bypass valve error was a consequential error. There was another underlying issue triggering it. They fixed it, no charge for the valve itself since it was functioning correctly. Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction!
