V90 Gear Indicator Failure

Help! My 2017 Volvo V90 hybrid's gone bonkers! Gear indicator is totally dead, like a zombie display. Can't shift, it slips, grinds, and the speedometer shows nothing. Plus, the error memory is bulging with faults. Mileage is at 245689 km. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Volvo V90 hybrid is experiencing a complete failure of the gear indicator, inability to shift gears, grinding noises, and a non-functional speedometer, accompanied by numerous error codes. The issue is suspected to be a defective control unit, which is a known problem and may require professional repair at a workshop. The suggested solution is to replace the control unit, which could be costly.

I had something similar happen with my V90! Is it behaving like a confused robot trying to dance? Mine did that and wouldn't engage any gear properly. Does the dashboard look like a Christmas tree?

Confused robot dancing is the perfect description! Yes, like a bad Christmas tree, only not so festive. What exactly was the problem with yours? Was it a costly fix?

Yep, sounds like the same circus. I'd bet it's a defective control unit. Better get it to a workshop. Could cost around 1000€, unfortunately.

Ouch, that's what I feared. Thanks, that's super helpful to confirm my own suspicions. Will book it in and brace myself. Control unit it is!
