V90 Overheating Issue

I've got a 2021 Volvo V90 with a diesel engine and I'm experiencing some overheating issues. The mileage is at 112594 km. I suspect the electric fan isn't working properly, as the engine gets hot pretty quickly, especially in traffic. Has anyone else had a similar problem with their V90? I've checked the basic fuses, but everything seems fine there. Could it be the fan motor itself?

Overheating on a modern diesel V90 is not typical. If the fuses are good, a faulty cable or plug connection to the fan motor is a likely culprit. Have you checked the fan's operation when the engine is hot? It should kick in to cool the radiator.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the fan when the engine was hot, and it wasn't spinning at all. Where exactly should I be looking for the cable and plug connection? Is it easily accessible, or will I need to remove other components to get to it?

If the fan isn't spinning when hot, and you've confirmed power at the fuse, a defective cable or plug is probable. The connection is usually near the fan motor assembly itself, behind the radiator. Access can be tight; you might need to remove some plastic trim for a clear view. However, if you're not comfortable with electrical troubleshooting, taking it to a workshop might be the safest bet.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – it was a defective plug connection. They replaced it, and the fan is working perfectly now. Total cost was 95€. No more overheating!
