V90 transmission issues

Hello, I have a 2016 Volvo V90 diesel with 40417 km on the clock. I'm experiencing some transmission issues. The engine warning light is on, and there's an error stored regarding the transmission oil pressure sensor. The gearbox sometimes goes into emergency mode, slips, and shifts roughly. I've also noticed some grinding noises. Any ideas?

Hey, I have a V90 too, and I had similar symptoms last year. A faulty transmission oil pressure sensor can definitely trigger those issues. When the gearbox goes into emergency mode, it's usually a safety mechanism. You should check your gearbox oil level. Low oil level might be the cause.

Thanks for the tip. You mean the gearbox oil level and not the engine oil level? And where exactly do I check the gearbox oil level on this model?

Yes, I meant the gearbox oil level specifically. I had the same question when the issue popped up. Unfortunately, checking the transmission fluid level on the V90 isn't straightforward like with engine oil. It's best to get it checked at a workshop. It turns out that in my case the gearbox oil level was fine and I had a faulty sensor.

Ok, thanks for the information! I went to the workshop, and you were spot on. The oil level was too low. They topped it up and replaced the sensor. Cost me 365€. Everything seems fine now.
