V90 Transmission Issues

I'm experiencing issues with my 2019 Volvo V90 gasoline engine. The transmission indicator light and check engine light are illuminated. The automatic transmission seems stuck in emergency mode, not shifting smoothly, feeling like it's slipping or shifting uncleanly. I've even heard some grinding noises during gear changes. The car has 60384 km on it. I scanned for error codes, and there's something stored in the error memory related to the radiator oil pressure being defective. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause?

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Volvo V90 is experiencing transmission issues, with the transmission indicator and check engine lights illuminated, and symptoms like rough shifting and grinding noises. The error codes suggest a problem with the radiator oil pressure, potentially due to a defective cable or plug connection. It is advised to inspect for leaks around the oil cooler and radiator, but ultimately, taking the car to a workshop is recommended for proper diagnosis and repair. The issue was resolved by fixing a defective cable or plug connection.

I also drive a V90 and faced similar transmission issues a while back. Transmission indicator and check engine light came on, and the shifting was very rough. Did you check for any leaks around the oil cooler or the radiator? It might be worth inspecting the cooling system and the radiator coolant levels as well.

Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned checking for leaks around the oil cooler. Is that difficult to access and inspect myself? I'm not very experienced with car repairs, and was just wondering if it is doable, or should I visit the workshop directly?

While it's possible to check for obvious leaks yourself, given the symptoms and error codes, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. The 'radiator oil pressure defective' message suggests a more complex issue, and they'll be able to properly diagnose the electricals and cooling system. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to transmissions.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! You were right, took it to a shop and they found it was indeed a defective cable or plug connection. Repair cost was 95€. All fixed now!
