Thanks for the reply. The code I pulled was P0340, indicating a camshaft position sensor 'A' circuit malfunction. I did a visual inspection of the wiring, and it seems okay, no obvious damage or loose connections. I haven't done any in-depth electrical testing though. Is that what you're suggesting?

Affirmative. The presence of the P0340 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indeed suggests a malfunction within the camshaft position sensor 'A' circuit. Based upon the supplementary information you have furnished, it is prudent to conduct a meticulous assessment of the sensor's electrical parameters. Given the intricacies involved in such diagnostic procedures, it may be judicious to avail oneself of the expertise of a qualified automotive technician to facilitate a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of the system. Consulting a workshop is advisable to mitigate the risk of exacerbating the issue.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I took it to my local garage, and you were spot on. It was indeed the camshaft sensor, and apparently the encoder wheel on the camshaft was damaged too. The final bill came to 695€, which included the sensor, the encoder wheel, and the labor. Runs like new now!

Good day, I experienced a similar predicament with my Nissan Vanette, specifically in relation to the symptoms you have elucidated. Could you please provide additional clarification regarding the specific diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that was retrieved from the engine control unit (ECU)? Furthermore, were any ancillary diagnostic procedures, such as an assessment of the camshaft sensor's wiring harness and connector, conducted to ascertain the integrity of the electrical circuit?
